I AM SO SMALL

I have very small body – very small arms – I can’t even jump very high – YET OH GOD
You have given me so high a ring to shoot at!
Big fellows just jump and dunk the ball – I can’t even touch the bottom thread of the net;
In this old age what task have you set for me
My eyes have developed blurred vision – my lower back is in constant pain
Yet the little ones gather around me and say Play with us
Oh you merciless god – why don’t you give them a player with strength and stamina
A beacon they can look at – A MJ they can believe in
Why do you give me this urge to go and train one million basketball players
Why did you choose this old body which has no fire left
Every time I shoot a basket I thank you for giving me the will to live on
Every time I miss a basket I know my students will forgive me – yet I am angry with you
If you had willed you could make me shoot each and every basket without failing
